Free UTM campaign URL builder

Build a campaign URL you can report on consistently

Add Google Analytics-compatible UTM parameters without hand-editing a query string. The builder preserves existing parameters, encodes values correctly, and runs entirely in your browser.

What a UTM builder actually solves

UTM parameters are labels attached to a destination URL. Analytics tools can read those labels to group visits by source, medium, campaign, creative, or paid-search term.

A builder reduces formatting mistakes, but naming discipline still matters. Decide on lowercase values, separators, and campaign names before a team starts publishing links.

Who this builder is for

Marketers, campaign managers, agencies, creators, and partners who need repeatable acquisition labels without manually editing a URL.

Exact input and output

Input
One valid http or https destination. Source, medium, and campaign are the core campaign labels; content and term are optional.
Generated output
One encoded destination URL. Existing query parameters are preserved and the five supported utm_* parameters are added or replaced with the values in the form.

How to create a UTM tracking link

  1. 01

    Enter the final destination

Use the canonical page you want people to visit, including any existing query parameters that the page requires.

  2. 02

    Name source, medium, and campaign

Use source for the publisher or platform, medium for the channel type, and campaign for the shared initiative name.

  3. 03

Add content or term only when useful

Content can distinguish placements or creative variants. Term can store a paid keyword or audience label.

  4. 04

Copy, test, and document the URL

Open it, confirm the landing page works, and record the naming convention so future links remain comparable.

UTM parameter examples by channel

Use values your team will recognize later. These examples are patterns, not mandatory vocabulary.

Email newsletter

Distinguish a recurring newsletter from automated email flows.

utm_source=newsletter · utm_medium=email · utm_campaign=product_launch

Paid social ad

Keep the platform in source and the buying channel in medium.

utm_source=linkedin · utm_medium=paid_social · utm_campaign=b2b_demo

Partner placement

Identify the partner and the placement without inventing a new medium each time.

utm_source=partner_name · utm_medium=referral · utm_campaign=summer_offer

UTM naming practices that improve reports

  • Use lowercase values consistently because many analytics reports treat capitalization as distinct.
  • Choose one separator, such as underscores, and avoid spaces in team conventions even though this builder encodes them safely.
  • Do not put personal data, email addresses, or confidential audience details in UTM values; parameters are visible in the URL.
  • Avoid tagging internal website links with UTMs because they can overwrite the original acquisition source in analytics.

Measurement boundaries and limitations

A correctly formatted URL does not guarantee complete attribution.

  • The builder creates the URL; it does not collect visits or connect to your analytics account.
  • Ad blockers, consent choices, browser restrictions, and cross-device journeys can reduce attribution accuracy.
  • Some platforms add their own click identifiers. Test URLs that already contain query parameters before launch.
  • A long tagged URL can be shortened, but verify that the short link preserves the full destination and parameters.

Privacy note

The destination and campaign values are assembled locally in your browser. This tool does not submit them to DrutoLink. The resulting URL may still expose its UTM values to anyone who can see or share it.

Browser and server responsibilities

In your browser
Validation, URL parsing, parameter updates, encoding, result display, and copying happen on this page in your browser.
On DrutoLink servers
Nothing from this form is submitted to DrutoLink. DrutoLink only becomes involved if you later shorten or manage the generated URL through a separate product workflow.

UTM builder questions

Which UTM parameters are required?

No UTM parameter is technically required by the URL format. For useful campaign reporting, source, medium, and campaign are the usual minimum. Content and term are optional.

Does this work with Google Analytics 4?

Yes. The builder uses standard utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, and utm_term parameters that GA4 and many other analytics tools recognize.

Can I add UTMs to a URL that already has query parameters?

Yes. The builder preserves existing parameters and adds the UTM values with the correct separator.

Should I use UTM parameters on internal links?

Usually no. Internal UTMs can replace the visitor’s original acquisition information and make attribution reports less reliable.
