Example data

All people, links, events, and metrics shown here are deterministic example data.

Connect a domain you own — a subdomain like short.yourbrand.com or an apex domain — and create short links on it. One DNS record verifies ownership and routes traffic, and HTTPS certificates are issued automatically.

  • Bring your own domain (subdomain or apex)
  • One DNS record verifies and routes
  • Self-service verification in Settings → Domains
  • Set an account default domain
  • Per-link domain selection
  • Automatic HTTPS on your branded links

What this feature does

Short links that carry your brand.

Connect a domain you own — a subdomain like short.yourbrand.com or an apex domain — and create short links on it. One DNS record verifies ownership and routes traffic, and HTTPS certificates are issued automatically.

Use this capability when you need more control than a basic short URL provides.

Implementation and operating details

The workflow stays attached to the short link, so you can manage the destination and its rules without replacing the URL already in circulation.

  • Bring your own domain (subdomain or apex)
  • One DNS record verifies and routes
  • Self-service verification in Settings → Domains
  • Set an account default domain
  • Per-link domain selection
  • Automatic HTTPS on your branded links

How it works

01

Add and verify a domain

In Settings → Domains, enter the host you own — a subdomain like short.yourbrand.com or an apex domain like yourbrand.com.

02

Publish one DNS record

DrutoLink returns the single record that routes traffic: a CNAME to edge.drutolink.com for subdomains, or an A record to the edge IP for apex domains.

03

Verify and shorten

Click Verify for a live DNS check, then pick the domain when creating links or set it as your account default. HTTPS is issued automatically.

Operational guide

How DrutoLink processes it

DrutoLink resolves the host from its in-memory verified-domain table, then applies the same rules as any short link: status and schedule, geo, click cap, password, A/B or device routing, and UTM values. HTTPS is issued on demand by the edge once the domain is verified.

Understand the signals, processing order, fallback, and checks that matter before you rely on this capability.

Required inputs and signals

Configuration input
Add the domain in Settings → Domains, publish the CNAME or A record, and click Verify.
Signals and connected controls
Per-link domain selection, account default domain, smart links, QR codes, and analytics

Decision, fallback, and common mistakes

Keep the record DNS-only (no proxy) and pointed at the edge host. Delete a domain only after the links using it are moved or deleted, and remember that a 301 can be cached by clients.

This capability is available now. Results still depend on visitor signals, destination availability, campaign setup, and the quality of the traffic being measured.

Practical setup checklist

  1. 01 Add and verify a domain. In Settings → Domains, enter the host you own — a subdomain like short.yourbrand.com or an apex domain like yourbrand.com.
  2. 02 Publish one DNS record. DrutoLink returns the single record that routes traffic: a CNAME to edge.drutolink.com for subdomains, or an A record to the edge IP for apex domains.
  3. 03 Verify and shorten. Click Verify for a live DNS check, then pick the domain when creating links or set it as your account default. HTTPS is issued automatically.

Why teams use it

One DNS record verifies ownership and routes traffic
Subdomain and apex support
Self-service add, verify, set default, and delete
Per-link domain selection
Automatic HTTPS on the same fast redirect path

Measurement and reporting

Review click activity and the relevant link, campaign, audience, or variant breakdowns in DrutoLink analytics. Use consistent UTM parameters when results must also be reconciled with destination-side analytics.

What you can evaluate

One DNS record verifies ownership and routes traffic · Subdomain and apex support · Self-service add, verify, set default, and delete

How to interpret results

A redirect click confirms that the link served a destination. It does not by itself prove a signup, purchase, or qualified visit. Compare the same date range and traffic definition before making a decision.

Current status and limitations

Available

This capability is available now. Results still depend on visitor signals, destination availability, campaign setup, and the quality of the traffic being measured.

Important boundary

Use the default destination and documented fallback behavior for cases where a rule cannot be evaluated. Test important links from representative devices and networks before broad distribution.

Do I need to buy a domain through DrutoLink? No. Connect any domain you already own. DrutoLink verifies it with one DNS record — no registrar or nameserver change.

Best use cases

Practical examples

These are common situations where the capability can reduce manual link changes or make reporting easier to understand.

  • 01 Branded social links
  • 02 Campaign URLs that match your domain
  • 03 Consistent link trust customers recognize
  • 04 One branded domain for customer campaigns, another for internal or partner links

Is this the right fit?

Choose this feature when

You need one controlled short URL, a repeatable operating workflow, and reporting that stays connected to the link. One DNS record verifies ownership and routes traffic

Use another approach when

Your requirement depends on a capability marked partial or planned, requires identity-level certainty, or needs conversion attribution that must be measured in the destination product.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to buy a domain through DrutoLink?

No. Connect any domain you already own. DrutoLink verifies it with one DNS record — no registrar or nameserver change.

How do I verify my domain?

Add the host in Settings → Domains, publish the CNAME or A record DrutoLink gives you at your DNS provider (DNS only, no proxy), then click Verify for a live DNS check.

How fast do branded links work?

Verified domains live in the same in-memory host table as the default domain, so redirects cost the same as default-domain redirects. HTTPS is issued automatically once the domain is verified.
